Eurovia to carry out Tram 9 urban development works, the second Val-de-Marne tramway, in the Greater Paris area

Ile-de-France Mobilités¹ has awarded a contract to VINCI subsidiary Eurovia to build the infrastructure for the new Tram 9 tramway line between Porte de Choisy and Orly-Ville.

Eurovia will be responsible for facade-to-facade urban development over the new 11.5 km line under a €117 million contract. These works will help to develop multimodal mobility. Specific projects have been designed to make paths safer and more pleasant: widening footpaths, making pedestrian crossing points safer (particularly near schools), and providing a continuous cycle path between Paris and the town of Orly.

Tram 9, the second tramway system in the Val-de-Marne department, will carry about 80,000 passengers per day in the 2020 timeframe and relieve crowding on the 183 bus line, the busiest in the Greater Paris area. Tram 9 will also strengthen intermodal transport in the Greater Paris area by providing a large number of connections with the area’s various transport systems including the Paris metro, the bus system, the RER C regional light rail line and the future Line 15 of the Grand Paris Express.

The French government, the Ile-de-France region, the Val de Marne department, the city of Paris and the Grand-Orly Seine-Bièvre public institution (EPT) are financing the operation, for which Ile-de-France-Mobilités is programme manager.
