17 December 2015 - 5:45 pm - New contracts - France
- The new innovative high-rise in the La Défense business district: 140 metres, 32 storeys, 52,000 m2
- A technical challenge to be met in just 33 months
VINCI Construction France will erect the new Trinity high-rise building for Unibail-Rodamco. The 140- metre tower will be constructed along the Eastern side of the CNIT building in the heart of the La Défense business district near Paris.
The project, which will get under way in early 2016 and is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2018, will be carried out by three VINCI Construction France subsidiaries, BATEG, GTM Bâtiment and Sogea TPI. VINCI Energies will handle a number of technical work packages.
After completing the Granite, Eqho and more recently the D2 towers in La Défense, VINCI Construction France now confirms its expertise in the construction of high-rise buildings and large-scale projects with state-of-the-art technical performance.
An innovative, virtuous project
Designed by Paris-based architecture firm Crochon Brullmann + Associés, the Trinity tower will offer 52,000 m² of floor area over 32 storeys, including 3,000 m² of new public and service areas.
With an innovative appearance and shape, the Trinity tower will be made up of two offset blades and will have balconies and gardens on every level on its Eastern and Western facades to channel a maximum amount of fresh air into the building. Another innovation will be the lifts. Generally kept “hidden” in the buildings at La Défense, these will be located on the outside of the Trinity building to allow for a better lighting.
The new-generation Trinity tower also aims for the highest environmental certifications: HQE Passeport Bâtiment Durable Exceptional Level and BREEAM Excellent. Its Thermal Regulation status will be 2012 – 25%.
A technical feat to be completed in record time
The Trinity tower project will also constitute a technical feat, the main challenge being to build it within the densely populated, complex La Défense business district environment. The high-rise will stand on a lid over the Avenue de la Division Leclerc expressway, which has seven traffic lanes that are to remain open throughout the construction work. La Défense services (buses, fire brigade, hotel supply, etc.) will also continue to operate normally.
The project will require underpinning of the CNIT and the installation of more than 1,000 micro-piles and piles to give the building a solid base. With its fire-resistant concrete structure, the base on which the high-rise building will be built will accommodate an esplanade with an area of more than 3,000 m² that will create new pedestrian connections accessible to people with reduced mobility between the Coupole and the CNIT and also between La Défense and the adjacent residential neighbourhoods of Puteaux and Courbevoie.
“The Trinity tower will be built over the expressway, setting an example in creating additional land in the run-up to the Grand Paris programme, in which the city will rebuild above itself. This ambitious urban high-rise building project is made possible by VINCI Construction France’s ability to pool its civil engineering and building expertise and capabilities, “ said Hugues Fourmentraux, Chief Executive Officer of VINCI Construction France.
Trinity will be completed in a record 33 months – 16 months for the esplanade and 17 months for the building.
