VINCI named preferred bidder for the partnership contract to build and operate the new Dunkirk sports arena

9 July 2012 - New contracts - France

- A contract spanning almost 28 years (332 months)
- A total investment of €112 million

The Communauté Urbaine de Dunkerque (Dunkirk urban community) has named VINCI Concessions, a VINCI subsidiary, the preferred bidder for a 332-month partnership contract to design, finance, build, operate and maintain the Arena de Dunkerque stadium, which will have a seating capacity of 10,000.

VINCI Concessions proposed a project that was exemplary in terms of sustainable development and integration into its environment, while at the same time creating a new identity for the approach to the city of Dunkirk.

Design and construction of the stadium, expected to take 36 months, will be carried out by VINCI Construction France through its subsidiaries ADIM Nord Picardie, SOGEA CARONI and DUMEZ EPS, in association with local SMEs. Architectural input will be provided by Chabanne & Partenaires, in partnership with AvantPropos and AB+Architectes.

Commercial operation of the stadium, including facilities management and sporting fixture/events programming, will be handled by VINCI Concessions, while upkeep and maintenance will be entrusted to VINCI Facilities.

Besides contributing to the development of the two user clubs (the handball club USDK and the basketball club BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque), the new stadium will be a symbol of sporting prowess and a new entertainment and cultural venue for the city of Dunkirk and the surrounding region.

VINCI Concessions is a major player in sports infrastructure with several prestigious references: the Stade de France (Saint-Denis) since 1998, MMArena (Le Mans) since 2008, the future Nice Stadium and the recently awarded contract for the new Bordeaux stadium.
