28 July 2010 - New contracts - Morocco
Cegelec, a subsidiary of VINCI’s energies business line, is to supply, as part of a consortium headed by GE Energy, all the civil engineering as well as the electrical and mechanical balance of plant for a turnkey thermal power station for the Office national de l’Electricité (ONE), the Morocco’s main electricity sector operator.
The contract, worth a total amount of over €200 million of which €96 million for Cegelec, will be executed at ONE’s Kenitra site, north of Rabat. It will take 25 months to carry out and will help meet the country’s growing energy needs in 2012.
Cegelec’s experience in turnkey power stations and its strong presence in Morocco, where it is currently participating in the construction of two hydroelectric plants for ONE, were decisive factors in winning this major contract.
This latest success confirms Cegelec’s position as a preferred partner of turbine manufacturers for the construction of turnkey power stations.
