VINCI has signed an agreement for the Ho Chi Minh City light rail
13 November 2009 - New contracts - Vietnam
VINCI Construction Grands Projets, in a consortium with LOHR Industrie for the rolling stock, has just signed, at a ceremony attended by Prime Minister François Fillon and the Vietnamese authorities, an agreement covering the turnkey construction of the first light rail line in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
This agreement provides for a first phase of exclusive discussions until 30 June 2010 with a view to signing an ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) design-build contract, a type of contract under which the contractor is involved in the design and studies phase of the project, following which the client and the contractor jointly define the amount of the works contract.
The project covers the design and construction of 12 kilometres of light rail line and 23 stations. The total amount of the project is estimated at €200 million.
VINCI has already built a large number of turnkey transport infrastructure projects, including Lines 1, 2 and 3 of the Cairo metro, the Athens, Rennes and Paris (Line 14) metros and the A86 Duplex highway tunnel in the greater Paris area.
