VINCI wins contract for wastewater treatment plant on Reunion Island

Sogea Réunion, a VINCI Construction subsidiary, in consortium with VINCI Construction France, has been awarded a contact to extend and modernise the wastewater treatment plant belonging to SIAPP, the wastewater treatment authority for the towns of Port and Possession.
The contract, worth €21 million, will increase the plant’s capacity from 33,000 population equivalent to 87,050 population equivalent.
The project comprises two works packages:
• The first calls for extending and modernising the plant within 24 months. By equipping the plant with membrane technology, the size of the plant to be reduced and better quality water will produced such that it can be reused for irrigation purposes. The plant will be the first on Reunion Island to use this technology and the sixth of this type in France for VINCI.
• The second works package includes the construction of a 1,650 cubic metres/hour pumping station and the installation of pipes with a diameter of 600 mm or 150 mm. This work is to be completed within 12 months.
