VINCI and HOCHTIEF lay the 'foundation stone' for the A4 motorway in Germany

Concession operator Via Solutions Thüringen GmbH & CO.KG, a company formed on a 50/50 basis by VINCI Concessions and HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions, has just launched the construction of the A4 motorway, linking the towns of Gotha and Eisenach in the state of Thuringia, in the presence of the German Minister for Transport.

The works involve the design, construction and upgrading of a 45 km stretch of motorway. Valued at 300 million euros, this project will make a major contribution to easing congestion on one of the most important motorway routes crossing Germany from west to east.

The upgrading (widening) and construction works, taking 4 years, will be tackled by a consortium composed of Eurovia, the project’s lead contractor (1/3), HOCHTIEF Construction (1/3) and German SMEs (1/3).

The consortium will also be responsible for the operation of this section from the 1st of May 2008, within the framework of a PPP (public/private partnership), for a period of 30 years.
