VINCI has signed the contract of the extension of the Czajka water treatment plant in Poland

The consortium led by Warbud (VINCI Construction Filiales Internationales) has signed the  contract of modernisation and extension contract for the Czajka water treatment plant to the north of Warsaw by the Warsaw water and wastewater authorities.

The consortium includes Warbud (Poland), leader with 55%, Kruger (Denmark), OTV (France) and Veolia Water System (Poland), subsidiaries of Veolia, as well as WTE Wassertechnik (Germany).

This design-construction contract, for €500 million, will increase the plant's current capacity of 240,000 m3/d to 435,000 m3/d (or from 1.2 million inhabitant equivalents to 2.1 million inhabitant equivalents). Czajka is to become Poland's largest treatment plant.

The contract includes earthworks, civil engineering, drainage systems, installation of equipment, electrical works and automation, as well as commissioning of all the elements. The job will be organised in two stages, in order to keep the current plant operating throughout the works. The existing structures will be demolished on completion of the second stage. Warbud will carry out civil engineering, drainage networks and land development works.

The work will be financed by European funds (40%) and the local authorities (60%). Work should begin in August 2008 and stop in December 2010.

This new contract is confirmation of Warbud's success in water treatment plants in Poland. It follows modernisation and extension contracts for the Lodz plant, the largest plant in Poland, modernisation of the Sosnowiec plant, extension and modernisation of the Stare Babice plant. Warbud has a workforce of 1,200 and forecasts revenue of over €400 million in 2007.
