Eurovia wins four contracts in the Czech Republic

Eurovia's subsidiary in the Czech Republic, SSZ, has just won four contracts, worth a total of €600 million in works, of which €270 million for SSZ.
SSZ, leader of a consortium that also includes SMP, Czech subsidiary of VINCI Construction Filiales Internationales, won the contract to build a 16km section of the D8 motorway between Lovosice and Rehlovice (to the north of Prague). The works include, in particular, the construction of three interchanges, three civil engineering structures, two tunnels, and the laying of 550,000 sq.m of asphalt mix. The contract is worth approximately €325 million euros, of which €156 million for SSZ. The section should come into service by the end of 2010.
SSZ is also part of a consortium that is to carry out development and/or reconstruction work on three rail lines for SZDC (rail administration authority):

- Development of a section of the Prague-Frankfurt line on which high speed trains and goods trains will run. The construction of this 40km section includes 53 switching stations, 41 civil engineering structures, 47 culverts, 9km of noise abatement walls and also drainage works. The work, worth a total of €135 million, is to last almost three years.

- Reconstruction of the Breclav railway junction at the crossroads of the Warsaw-Vienna and Prague-Budapest lines. The contract, worth €80 million in total, provides for the laying of 22km of track, the building of five civil engineering structures, the modernisation of the station and the construction of underground pedestrian walkways. The work will be completed in June 2010.

- Reconstruction and electrification of a 25km section of the Prague-Warsaw line. This contract, worth €55 million, also includes development of the stations served, reconstruction of 23 level crossings, and the installation of information systems for the network. The project will be delivered in June 2009.

SSZ, with revenue of almost €700 million in 2006, is one of the principal players in road and rail works in the Czech Republic.
