VINCI signs a cooperation agreement with the Russian government
25 September 2006 - Events - Russian Federation
On the occasion of the official visit by President Vladimir Putin to France, Yves-Thibault de Silguy, Chairman of VINCI, and Igor Levitin, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, signed a memorandum of understanding defining the framework in which VINCI will provide support to the Ministry of Transport in rapidly implementing a large-scale transport infrastructure concession programme. This cooperation agreement includes, in particular, the project covering construction of the Moscow-Saint-Petersburg motorway followed by its operation through a system of tolls.
VINCI, the world’s leading concession-construction group, is already operating in Russia through its subsidiary VINCI Construction Grands Projets, which built the Lefortovo
tunnel and is currently building the Silver Forest tunnel and a shopping centre in Saint Petersburg. With this agreement, VINCI demonstrates its interest in the Russian market, on which it also hopes to do business as a concessionaire or operator.
