Welding operations for aircraft carriers

British defence contractor BAE Systems entrusted Entrepose (VINCI Construction) with repair, welding and finishing works on bearings destined to support the propeller shafts of aircraft carriers. Undertaken at the Entrepose Industries workshops in Dunkirk, the assembly operations have called for all the company’s considerable expertise in the welding of large thicknesses, with some welds up to 400 mm thick. These works are for two aircraft carriers currently under construction in the shipyard at Rosyth, in Scotland.
