Warm mix for the A85

Between September and November 2011, in western France, teams from Eurovia Grands Travaux, on behalf of Cofiroute – Vivy Operations Centre (VINCI Autoroutes), renewed the pavement on both directions of 25 km of the A85 motorway junction – a total surface area of 550,000 sq. metres. They used 76,000 t of mix, half of it warm mix asphalt (Evotherm DAT5 from the Tempera product range). Applied at a temperature of 125°C (instead of the usual 165°C), this variety of mix notably enables greenhouse gas emissions to be reduced. Value of the works: €6.2m.
