Vertical drainage for future retail centre

Geopac (Soletanche Freyssinet/VINCI Construction) has just been appointed by Ledcor to supply the vertical drainage works for a new retail centre in Tsawwassen, British Columbia. The works require the installation of about 400,000 lm of vertical drains to exceptional depths – between some 30 to 45 metres deep. Geopac has called in Bermingham, also a Soletanche Freyssinet subsidiary, to build a 51 m-high pole to enable the drains to be vibro-driven. The works started in late November 2014 and should take four months to complete. On this same project, Geopac had already, in late 2013, carried out the anti-liquefaction stabilisation of the ground beneath the main shopping mall with 225,000 lm of stone columns.
