Upgrading the Roland-Garros stadium
25 November 2015 - New contracts - France
VINCI Construction France has been appointed by the French Tennis Federation (FFT) to upgrade the Roland-Garros stadium, following a competitive dialogue begun in 2011.
The project involves renovating the Philippe Chatrier court and creating its retractable roof - the main technical challenge of the project.
It also includes the construction of a new building for the tournament organisers, creating a green esplanade and redeveloping the Fonds des Princes into a new, enlarged competition area comprising seven courts.
A new court will also be created in the south-east part of the Jardin des serres d'Auteuil area.
After a year of design & planning work, the preparatory works began in October 2015 and will continue through till March 2016. Following the 2016 tournament, the works will resume for 10 months of the next four years, with a two-month break each year for the tournament.
