Transport of La Samaritaine waste by river

As part of its environmental drive, VINCI Construction France will be transporting around 35% of the waste from its La Samaritaine revamp worksite by river before recycling it.

Its subsidiary Petit started working on this landmark project in central Paris in September 2015, will take 36 months to complete it and will have as many as 1,300 people working at the site during the peak period. And the worksite will generate up to 110,000 cubic metres of waste (gypsum, glass, metal, wood, etc.). A barge with capacity to hold 60 lorry loads will carry the waste on the Seine, releasing five times less CO2 emissions than road transport.
