Trams for the 2016 Olympics

ETF (Eurovia), in a joint venture with Alberoni & Arruda, is to participate in the construction of the new tram network in Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil.


To come into service in time for the 2016 Olympic Games, the network will boast 42 stations along 28 km of catenary-free lines and will serve the Porto Maravilha neighbourhood, the Rio 2016 Press Village, the business district, the central railway station, the port and Santos Dumont Airport.
ETF will act as a sub-contractor to concession holder VLT Carrioca, installing track and switches, crossings and turntables, etc.
