Three lanes on the Angers bypass
21 January 2013 - Projects update and handover - France
On 20 November 2012, on the A87, near Angers (western France), ASF (VINCI Autoroutes) brought into service the eastern bypass round the city, 5 km of which had been widened from 2x2 to 2x3 lanes. ASF's operations division in Angers acted as contracting authority for this project. The works lasted three and a half years, and were carried out under traffic, largely at night in order to limit traffic disruption. The creation of the pavements (62,000 t of mix and 190,000 sq. metres of asphalt concrete) was entrusted to Eurovia Atlantique, the construction of the noise barriers to Eurovia Béton, and the updating of the direction and lane signs to Signature, also a Eurovia subsidiary. In addition, the old viaduct over the Loire has been rehabilitated, by teams from Freyssinet, a Soletanche Freyssinet subsidiary (VINCI Construction), and Eurovia Angers for the reprofiling and the wearing surface (5,000 t of mix).
Overall, the project represents an investment of €60.4m.
