11 June 2012 - Projects update and handover - France

On 17 April 2012, VINCI Construction France handed over the “City of Knowledge and Sport for all”, a structure featuring a mix of glass, architectural concrete on the façade, and steel, located in the heart of the future Pierres Vives eco-neighbourhood in Montpellier, to the General Council of the Hérault department (south of France). In addition to the Hérault departmental archives, the building will house the departmental multimedia resource centre and the services of the departmental Office for Sport, as well as a space for young citizens. With a surface area of 26,000 sq. metres over five levels, this new facility, designed by architect Zaha Hadid, will open to the public in September 2012. It was built on a general contracting basis by a consortium comprising Sogea Sud (leader), GTM Sud and Dumez Sud (three VINCI Construction France subsidiaries).
Worth €95 million, the works took three years to complete.
