Strengthening the RN1
25 February 2013 - New contracts - Burkina Faso
Sogea-Satom (VINCI Construction), as head of a consortium, has been appointed to upgrade a section of national highway 1, which links Ouagadougou and Bobo Dioulasso. The works will involve strengthening the pavement on a 122 km stretch, between Sakoinsé and Boromo, thanks to a cement treatment of the base course, a layer of bitumen-bound gravel and a surface in asphalt concrete. The project also includes a number of additional works: 22 car parks in villages the highway passes through, 12.5 km of access routes to the highway, 20 drilling operations, protective fencing round six primary schools and the planting of trees along the highway.
Launched in November 2012, the works will take 36 months. Financed by the European Union, the project is worth €67m, of which €33.5m is for Sogea-Satom.
