Road rehabilitation in the Black Forest
1 October 2016 - Sustainability - Germany
Over the summer of 2016, Eurovia Germany’s Stuttgart office implemented its biggest-ever “compact asphalt” project (the simultaneous application of two layers in order to avoid heat loss from the surface course), i.e. over a surface area of some 96,000 sq. metres, in the heart of the Black Forest, in the south-west of the country.
The project involved renewing the surface of the B500 between Zuflucht and Ruhestein over a distance of 10.5 km at an altitude of almost 1,000 m. In addition to the main works, a certain number of access routes to agricultural land and car parks were paved; the teams also carried out all the related works (refurbishment of culverts, sewer drains, etc.).
