Redevelopment of waterways on the A63 motorway

On the A63 motorway widening worksite between Biriatou and Biarritz (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), Cognac TP (Eurovia) and VINCI Construction Terrassement are currently completing works to reconnect waterways and improve hydraulic structures.

The project aims to re-establish the ecological continuity of 18 waterways impacted by the works by completely re-creating portions of the waterways while at the same time preserving or enhancing their ecological functions. Over 2.8 km of waterways have been re-created with meanders, fish caches and planting of specific species. Hydraulic structures allowing watercourses to flow under the motorway have been extended and the interiors redeveloped to create passages for fish under the infrastructure.
