Record-breaking wall for hydro-electric power station
14 September 2012 - New contracts - Chile
As part of the construction of the Angostura hydro-electric power station, 600 km to the south of Santiago, Soletanche Bachy Chile, a Soletanche Freyssinet subsidiary (VINCI Construction), has just finished creating a 52,000 sq. metre diaphragm wall. Launched in November 2010, the works involved more than 160 employees and resulted in an excellent safety record (430,000 hours worked, not a single lost-time accident).
This is the longest (1,600 m) and deepest (as much as 68 m deep) diaphragm wall ever created in the country.
