Entrepose Contracting (VINCI Construction) is in charge of the surface installations of the underground storage project in Shalapa, in Mexico; in late 2015 it began clearing trees in a 28-hectare area of jungle with a particularly rich eco-system. Working together with the client, the company created an environmental programme aimed at reducing the project’s impact on the site’s biodiversity. An inventory has been drawn up of the area’s flora and fauna, and a dedicated team is now charged with evacuating the most vulnerable animal species, and placing certain plants in nurseries for the duration of the project. These will be replanted in the empty spaces left by the future installations.
