Planning for a diamond mine

Dura Soletanche Bachy (Soletanche Freyssinet/VINCI Construction) has been approached to participate in developing the new forward plan aimed at anticipating and managing possible risks resulting from the further development of the Jwaneng diamond mine. Located in the south of the country, this open-cast mine is managed by Debswana, a joint venture formed by De Beers and the government of Botswana. It is currently 400 m deep and the operating plan envisages a final depth of 800 m. The mine is beginning to suffer slope instability problems when accessing new exploration areas.
