Piling works in Scotland
1 October 2015 - New contracts - United Kingdom
Within the framework of the Shieldhall tunnel project in Glasgow, Bachy Soletanche (Soletanche Freyssinet/VINCI Construction) has recently won a contract to supply piles. This task forms part of the project being implemented by the VINCI Construction Grands Projets-Costain joint venture on behalf of Scottish Water, which aims to improve water quality in the River Clyde and its tributaries and to reduce flooding problems. For Bachy Soletanche, it will involve creating the piles for the first shaft of the tunnel, the service chamber and the TBM’s launch chamber, as well as a 400 m-long piled wall for the cut-andcover section of the tunnel.
