Own-site bus service in Martinique
24 November 2015 - Projects update and handover - France
On 1 October, Caraïbus, a VINCI Concessions subsidiary, handed over to the public-private entity responsible for Martinique’s own-site bus service the infrastructure and the rolling stock for the bus rapid transit service due to link Fort-de- France and Le Lamentin. The works were supplied by the Sogea Martinique (VINCI Construction)/Caraïb Moter (Eurovia, leader) joint venture. Passenger services are scheduled to start at the end of the first quarter of 2016. On the same project, Getelec Collectivités (VINCI Energies France) designed and installed the public lighting, the fibre optic links between the stations, the traffic lights and some of the street furniture. Eger Martinique and Tunzini Martinique (VINCI Energies France) supplied the electrical equipment and the air conditioning for the maintenance centre. Axians Communication & Systems Antilles Guyane and Eger Martinique (VINCI Energies France) supplied the integrated information and communication system on behalf of the Compagnie foyalaise de transports urbains. This project has been implemented within the framework of the PPP contract covering the financing, design and construction of a 2.5 km-long section, a maintenance centre, 16 stops, 2 transfer stations and the procurement of 14 rapid transit buses. Caraïbus Maintenance (VINCI Concessions) will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the infrastructure for 20 years.
