Built by Pitance, leader, and Lamy (both VINCI Construction France companies), the Lyon Confluence leisure and retail centre opened in Lyons (central France) on 4 April 2012 after four years of works. Created on behalf of Unibail-Rodamco and designed by architect Jean-Paul Viguier, this new facility, occupying a surface area of 53,000 sq. metres, accommodates about a hundred shops, a 14-screen cinema, 17 restaurants, a climbing wall, a hotel and 1,500 parking spaces; total floor area: 164,000 sq. metres. Extending over three levels, the complex is organised in wooden pavilions, their interior design reminiscent of an ocean liner. The building's "sky roof" is composed of 24,000 sq. metres of transparent air cushions which change colour with the light, at the same time providing a high level of thermal insulation. The lighting of this roof was installed by Citéos Lyon (VINCI Energies France). Other Group companies were involved in the project: Roiret Energies for the high- and low-voltage works and TPI for the sprinklers (both VINCI Energies France subsidiaries), as well as the Major Projects arm of the Rhône-Alpes Nord delegation of VINCI Construction France.
