New water retention basin in Montréal
10 December 2018 - Projects update and handover - Canada
Eurovia Québec Grands Projets is building the William water retention basin.
With a capacity of 12,000 cu. metres, it will be able to provide temporary relief if the wastewater drainage network becomes overloaded, and thus avoid overflows.
The retaining wall will be formed of 15 m-deep soldier-pile walls and secant piles. A 155 m-long intake pipe, installed with the help of a micro-tunnelling machine at a depth varying between 7 and 12 m, will form the link between the Youville collector and the William retention basin. To start the basin operating, an underground pumping station, an entry chamber and a connecting chamber in in-situ concrete are also planned.
