New contract for Line 3 of the Cairo metro

As leader of the consortium currently carrying out the works of phase 2 of Line 3 of the Cairo metro, VINCI Construction Grands Projets has just signed a contract extending the current phase with the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT). Worth €40m, this contract concerns the civil engineering at the Haroun station and the creation of 680 m of additional tunnels between the Al Ahram and Haroun stations. The works, which started immediately, should take 17 months.

ETF (Eurovia), for its part, is charged, as part of a consortium, with supplying and installing the track and the power supply rail for this extension. Entry into service of phase 2 as far as the Al Ahram station (6.5 km of tunnel and four stations) is scheduled for mid-2014.
