19 June 2012 - New contracts - United States of America

As part of the construction in Seattle of tunnel SR 99, the widest TBM-driven tunnel ever to be built (diameter: 18 m), Soldata Inc., a subsidiary of Soletanche Freyssinet (VINCI Construction), has been appointed by Seattle Tunnel Partners (STP) to install, take readings from and manage the project’s monitoring arrangements. More than 1,000 measuring instruments will be installed to monitor the impact of the works on the ground and on structures located close to the path of the future tunnel (length: 2.7 km). Thanks to the 3D processing of the data made possible by its Geoscope software, Soldata Inc. will be able to provide the client and the project manager, in real time, with all the information required for the execution of the project.
The monitoring side of the construction process began this spring; it will end once the tunnel has been completed, in 2015.
