Making a former asbestos mine safe

After more than three years of works, in late 2013 VINCI Construction Terrassement’s Corsica Mediterranean centre will hand over the project to make safe and ensure the mechanical stability of the former asbestos mine in Canari (Corsica). The works have involved stabilizing the tips, the disposal of asbestos-containing waste materials in the craters left by the mine, making slopes safe by installing more than 400 lm of rock restraining nets, and creating a 1,500 m-long track, making it possible to canalize the water of the catchment area.
Value of the works: €8.7m.
