Makeover for the Champlain Bridge
1 June 2014 - New contracts - Canada
Construction DJL (Eurovia) has been awarded the contract for the structural reinforcement of the Champlain Bridge, in Quebec, the most-used engineering structure in Canada (it links the town of Brossard and the Island of Montreal and carries three motorways). The task involves repairing six of the bridge’s piers and about fifteen girders, including the use, among other materials, of carbon fibre. The planning and implementation of the project are complicated by the need to work underwater. Work started in June 2014 and will take two years to complete, employing more than 70 people. Contract value: about €16m (25 million Canadian dollars).
