Inauguration of the Phnom Penh and Siem Reap airports extensions
The projects used digital modelling and BIM to improve safety performance and construction schedule planning.
16 March 2016 - Events - Cambodia
The extensions to the Phnom Penh and Siem Reap international airports, managed by VINCI Airports, were inaugurated by the Cambodian Prime Minister at a ceremony on 16 March, at Phnom Penh airport.
Representing an investment of about $100 million, these extensions will enable the two airports to double their capacity (from 5 to 10 million passengers a year) and thus cope with the growth in air traffic. In 20 years, passenger numbers have increased ten-fold, driven by the country’s extremely dynamic economy and tourism sector. Launched in 2013 and implemented by VINCI Construction Grands Projets, the works were carried out with the airports remaining open and without disrupting their operations.
