26 December 2017 - Projects update and handover - France

Teams from Bourdarios (VINCI Construction France) are currently rehabilitating, on a general contracting basis, a department store in the centre of Toulouse – Au Capitole – on behalf of Primark, the retail brand specialising in low-cost clothing.

In addition to the age of the site (a building dating from the 1900s with an Eiffel-type structure), this project is characterised by the almost-exclusive use of wood for the structure of the floors (a ratio of 600 cu. metres of wood to just 50 cu. metres of concrete) and the in-house implementation of many works packages – the asbestos removal, for example, demolition works, reconstruction of the wooden floors, restoration of the classified façades, etc.

The project stands out, in particular, due to the way the waste wood is being packed on pallets in order to limit the transportation of skips, the installation of cutting stations equipped with local exhaust ventilation and of air extractors near demolition stations to limit airborne dust, and the installation of retention tanks. Indeed, it was awarded the Environment Attitude label on 21 April 2017.

The works should be completed in late January 2018.
