11 July 2012 - New contracts - Canada

In Quebec, the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) has awarded Construction DJL (Eurovia) a section (works package 231) of the Rapibus project, a new type of public transport that will serve the town centres of Gatineau, Hull and Ottawa. Rapibus is a bus rapid transport system comprising 12 km of dedicated lanes (installed in an existing railway corridor), 10 secure stops and 10 km of cycle track, as well as additional parking facilities. It is due to come into service in July 2013. The works, undertaken on a general contracting basis, will notably involve widening an existing railway viaduct, building a new bridge for cyclists, installing traffic lights, moving a railway line and surfacing the roadway, as well as works relating to the utility networks (drinking water, sewerage, electricity...). Contract value: €17m.
