The company Stade de Lyon Construction (VINCI Construction France), which was awarded the contract to design and build the stadium, finished installing the steel framework of the Grand Stade de Lyon (central France) in late October and in early November laid the natural turf of the pitch. Over the 30 months of the works, more than 20,000 people have participated in the numerous site visits, among them Thierry Braillard, French Secretary of State for Sport, and Gérard Collomb, senator, Mayor of Lyon, and President of the urban community of Lyon. Some 1,200 people are still present on the worksite for the new stadium, which is due to be handed over in January 2016.
