Georges Brassens cultural trail
26 June 2015 - Events - France
On Friday 26 June, at the A9 motorway’s Loupian rest area (south of France), VINCI Autoroutes (VINCI Concessions) inaugurated a cultural trail and a statue dedicated to Georges Brassens in the presence of Alain Vidal, the town’s mayor, Pierre Coppey, chairman of VINCI Autoroutes, and the singer Maxime Le Forestier. Henceforth to be known as the Aire de Loupian-Georges Brassens, this rest area now features a statue of the poet, born in the neighbouring town of Sète, and several works recalling his songs, created by sculptor Thierry Delorme and his wife Pascale. This initiative reflects the VINCI Autoroutes commitment to highlight the cultural heritage of regions crossed by its motorways.
