Foundations for future Hong Kong theatre

Bachy Soletanche Ltd Group (BSGL), a Soletanche Freyssinet subsidiary (VINCI Construction), has just been appointed to create the foundations of the Xiqu Opera, the future traditional Chinese theatre in Hong Kong. It will be built within the West Kowloon Cultural District, a huge cultural project that will involve the construction of a number of buildings, including a 62,000 sq. metre modern art museum. The Xiqu Opera, for its part, is due for completion in 2016. The works allocated to BSGL have already started and should take 9 months to complete. They comprise the creation of large-diameter piles anchored to the rock as well as other related works involving piling or berlinoise retaining structures, valued at nearly €10m.
