Final cable for Port Mann Bridge

On 1st November 2012, in Vancouver, Freyssinet Canada Limitée, a Soletanche Freyssinet subsidiary (VINCI Construction), completed its installation of the 288 cables of the Port Mann Bridge. Reinforced Earth Company Ltd (another Soletanche Freyssinet subsidiary) also participated in the construction of this bridge, supplying and installing 33,000 sq. metres of retaining structures in Reinforced Earth® (walls and abutments). BA Blacktop (Eurovia), for its part, supplied the wearing course, which required the application of 305,000 t of mix. With 2x5 traffic lanes, this bridge, which carries Trans-Canada Highway 1, is the widest in Canada (50 m). It is scheduled to come into service in spring 2013.
