Extending a quay in Port Chalmers
1 July 2017 - New contracts - New-Zealand
Port Otago Limited has awarded HEB Construction (VINCI Construction International Network) the design-build contract for the extension of the multi-purpose quay in Port Chalmers, on the east coast of the South Island.
This 135 m-long extension will be created to the north of – and in alignment with – the existing structures (length: 300 m). It will be a multi-purpose quay, designed to accommodate containerised cargo and handling machines such as rail-mounted container cranes, forklift trucks, straddle carriers and mobile cranes. The quay will have installations for the mooring, anchorage and maintenance of container ships, for moving some 150,000 t, and a capacity of 8,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units – a unit of measurement for containers).
Contract value: about €12m.
