Exit of a TBM

In Miami (Florida), on the project, being implemented by Nicholson and Bessac (both Soletanche Freyssinet/VINCI Construction subsidiaries), to create a force main beneath the Norris Cut, the tunnel boring machine (TBM) Dorsey re-emerged in February 2016. Having driven a distance of more than 1.5 km, this TBM (diameter: 3 m) had arrived at its destination on Fisher Island, to the east of the city. The creation of this force main forms part of the wastewater treatment plan for the central district of Virginia Key. The design-build contract was awarded to Nicholson in early 2014, on a general contracting basis.
