Enlarging Das Island

Located 120 km off the coast of Abu Dhabi, Das Island (3 sq. kilometres) is home to a gas and oil production facility. As part of a project to enlarge the island, increasing its surface area to 4.5 sq. kilometres, Soletanche Bachy, a subsidiary of Soletanche Freyssinet (VINCI Construction), was appointed by Van Oord in late 2011 to undertake the vibrocompaction of 4,000,000 cu. metres of sand in the space of 8 weeks.
