16 January 2012 - New contracts - France

In Martinique, the teaching hospital (CHU) in Fort-de- France has awarded the design-build contract for a new, 40,000 sq. metre hospital building to a consortium notably comprising Sogea Martinique and SIMP (VINCI Construction DOM-TOM subsidiaries), for the construction work, and Cegelec Espace & Défense (Cegelec GSS Division, Energy business line) for the electrical and climate control works packages. In order to ensure the hospital can continue functioning in the event of an earthquake, the structure of the building is built on 350 isolators that completely disconnect it from its foundations. The works, which will take 40 months, after an 8-month design and planning stage, began in December 2011. Total contract value: €109m.
