1 May 2014 - New contracts - Qatar

The joint venture led by QDVC (a subsidiary of Qatari Diar (51%) and VINCI Construction Grands Projets (49%)) has been awarded the second phase of works on the New Orbital Highway, a new motorway on the outskirts of Doha (Qatar). The €850 million contract covers the design and construction of 47 km of motorway, 6 viaducts, 17 engineering structures and a 320-metre cut-and-cover tunnel. This motorway section will provide 2x5 lanes for light vehicles, plus two lanes in each direction for heavy goods vehicles. The works, in which VINCI Construction Terrassement will also be participating, are due to start in May 2014 and will take 36 months to complete. This new section will form part of a highway almost 200 km long that will link the Qatari capital’s new port, on the outskirts of Doha, with the gas-producing town of Ras Laffan, in the north of the country.
