On 18 September 2012, in Paris, the Louvre Museum inaugurated its new department, devoted to Islamic Art. In the Cour Visconti, the project has resulted in 7,000 sq. metres of exhibition rooms on two levels (ground floor and basement), sheltered beneath a glass roof. The structural works were supplied by a consortium comprising Lainé Delau (VINCI Construction France) and Soletanche Bachy, a Soletanche Freyssinet subsidiary (VINCI Construction), with the collaboration of Degaine (VINCI Construction France) and Freyssinet, a Soletanche Freyssinet subsidiary.
Undertaken on an occupied site, the works (€22m) took three years to complete.
