Demolition and reconstruction of the Paris bridge
21 January 2013 - New contracts - France
In Beauvais (northern France), Sogea Picardie (VINCI Construction France) has won the design-build contract for the demolition and reconstruction of the Paris bridge. This 120 m-long, prestressed concrete bridge, built in 1949, had become fragile and a threat to the safety of those using it; it has been closed to traffic since September 2010. The demolition will be carried out by a mechanical digger "nibbling away" at the bridge deck. The new structure will have a steel deck, resting on piers.
Contract value: €5.8m. Handover is scheduled for late December 2013.
