Completion of concrete foundation slab for Iter
1 October 2014 - Projects update and handover - France
On 27 August 2014, the consortium composed of GTM Sud, leader, Chantiers Modernes Sud, Campenon Bernard Sud-Est (all VINCI Construction France subsidiaries) and Dodin Campenon Bernard (VINCI Construction) completed the second concrete foundation slab for the Iter nuclear reactor at Cadarache (south of France). Involving the pouring of 865 cu. metres of concrete, this operation completes the creation of the monolithic slab supporting the Tokamak Complex (14,000 cu. metres). The contract for this, awarded in 2010, also included the seismic isolation shaft and the foundation slab for the assembly hall. A new project is now getting under way: the construction of the Tokamak reactor building and nine adjoining buildings, being undertaken by a consortium composed of subsidiaries of VINCI Construction, Ferrovial Agroman and Razel-Bec.
