Building viaducts for a railway line

January saw Freyssinet (VINCI Construction) complete the construction and installation of the prestressed concrete decks of the three major viaducts of the railway line that will link the towns of Birtouta and Zeralda, in the Algiers region. The company undertook the design & planning works for the decks of these structures (total length: almost 2 km), and supplied and installed the prestressed concrete and the equipment specific to railway infrastructure. Given their location in a seismic zone, these viaducts have in addition been equipped with Isosism earthquake-resistant devices, developed and produced by Freyssinet. The opening of this new line, scheduled for 2017, will improve access to the coastal towns of the Algiers conurbation.
