Building a section of motorway in Slovakia
1 August 2014 - New contracts - Slovakia
A consortium led by VINCI companies Eurovia (48%) and SMP CZ (12%), a VINCI Construction subsidiary, and which also includes Hochtief CZ (40%), has just won a €255 million contract to build a new section of the D3 motorway, in the north of Slovakia. This new 4.2 km section will link Strážov and Brodno, on the outskirts of Žilina. The project includes the construction of four engineering structures: a 2.2 km tunnel, and three bridges, one of them a 1.4 km viaduct crossing the Hričovská dam. The contract also covers a large number of ancillary works, including the reinstatement of secondary road networks, a variety of drainage works and the installation of all the required motorway equipment. About 500 people will be working on the project for a period of three years. To protect the environment, the project also provides for optimum blending of this new infrastructure into the landscapes through which it runs and the re-planting of vegetation along its edges.
