Bridge in Boromo/Burkina Faso

On 28 September 2018, in Boromo, the President of Burkina Faso, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, inaugurated the composite steel/concrete bridge over the Mouhoun River.

Built by Sogea-Satom (VINCI Construction International Network), this structure is located on the RN1, the road linking the capital, Ouagadougou, with the country’s second city, Bobo-Dioulasso, and with neighbouring countries Côte d’Ivoire and Mali.

Its reinforced concrete deck (length: 106.2 m; width: 12 m) rests on a 180 t steel framework and accommodates two traffic lanes with a pavement on either side. This is the first such composite bridge in Burkina Faso.
